Att ha en vecka på en skön semesterort för alla yrkespolitiker där de kan dricka champagne, äta gott och uppvaktas av de som sätter sprätt på folkets pengar är helt otänkbart i USA. Det skulle nästan leda till den första revolutionen sedan 1776. Folk skulle helt flippa ur på idén och ingen politiker som deltog skulle bli återvald. Folket skulle ta ut sin hämnd.


När Texas guvernör Rick Perry ger ut boken "Fed Up!" betyder det att han tar totalt avstånd från Washington D.C. och han fått nog, enligt honom själv, av att folk sätter sprätt på andra människors pengar, lobbyister, fjäsk och fjanteri enligt Rick Perry som sagt. I USA vinner man val på att säga att man inte tillhör den inre klicken i Washington D.C. Rick Perry har blivit vald tre gånger som guvernör i Texas. Vad säger människor som söker utmana de som redan är valda till Kongressen?

Almedalen skulle ingen politiskt överleva i USA. Att åka till Martha's Vineyard med tusen andra yrkespolitiker och ett par tusen leverantörer som lever gott på det allmänna - för att med champagne och vitlökskorv fira hur gott man har det på andras pengar är helt otänkbart i USA. Det skulle vara värre som politiskt självmord än att löpa naken på fyllan genom centrala huvudstaden. det har folk visst överseende med - men ett amerikanskt Almedalen skulle de aldrig förlåta.
